Gender socialization and gender roles

I sometimes wonder, why is gender socialization and gender roles important. Why do parents or family makes their children aware of their gender that yes you are a girl so you should not play with bat and ball, you should not act in a way a boy acts, you should be calm, composed, your preferable colour is pink, you should look down and not argue  even if you do not like to do a certain activity.  A girl should be soft spoken, if a girl is loud that shows she is ill mannered, doesn't respect anyone.  Girls should not be dominating whereas a boy can. The society is build in such a way that lets a girl judged by her looks, attire, behaviour and choice but it doesn't judge a boy on his looks, attire, behaviour, choice.  Here, aboy is allowed to do anything they want, they feel free to do.  They can go out at any time wearing whatever they want whereas a girl cant. 
Today ,in the morning i was going through the newspaper and got to read a news which states that a bollywood actress humiliated by a lady police saying that 'she is not a girl because she is wearing shirt and trouser'.  According to the lady police, a girl cant be a girl if they wear shirt, trouser.  I think she was not aware of the fact, that she herself was wearing shirt and trouser and she was on her duty.  Being a lady how can she insult another girl.  These all comes from the topic gender socialization and gender roles.  This takes place at the very beginning of a child growth.  What roles a particular gender should carry all is implemented by family at the very beginning. Standing in this century, and getting to read such news makes ne feel ashamed that in which society i am born. Even if people says society is changing i dont think so it is.  May be change is taking place but its a minor percentage which doesn't even throw light on these issues.  Majorities thinking has not changed. I think families should stop making children learn about gender socialization and gender roles.  Its not needed.  Let the children grow how they want to.  Let them have the idea of equality of gender from the very first phase.  If we observe, then we wil see that children when they r small all gender play together, does the same work. Equality is there.  But as they grow up inequality starts growing and thats starts taking a big shape of throwing all negativity on girls. 
Hoping that people will understand these and a better society will be created where everyone can stay happily, safe, i end my topic of discussion.
